Sheree is a recipient of the Peter Lisagor award for Exemplary Journalism for her contributions to a People magazine special report on breast cancer. She is also a member of the National Association of Black Journalists, as well as the Alliance of Black Jews and is active in several nonprofit organizations. She was born and raised in Chicago, but has lived and worked in New York, St. Louis and Des Moines. She currently resides in a Minneapolis suburb with her husband and two sons.
